Basic Connection Options
The following connection options can be set directly, without first turning on
the Show advanced options selection:
- VPN connection name: The first item to configure is a 'friendly
name' for the connection. This is a free-form text description to make it easier
to remember the purpose of each saved connection.
- IPsec connection type: Select what type of Internet Protocol
Security (IPsec) is used for the connection. This choice cannot be changed once
the configuration has been saved, and it affects what additional configuration
options are displayed. For a closer look at at the available options, see
section IPsec Connection Types.
- Gateway: IP address or DNS name of the security gateway.
- Certificate (certificate based connections only): Select an
available certificate file. The list is populated based on the imported
certificates - see section Import Certificates.
- Certificate authority (CA) (certificate based connections only):
Select an available certificate authority. The list is populated based on the
imported certificates - see section Import Certificates.
- Identity (PSK, EAP and SecurID based connections only): The
identity to use for authentication. The accepted formats depend on previous
choices. The currently valid identity type (for example
Key ID or
Email address ) is displayed in the background when the field is empty.
- Pre-Shared key (PSK) (PSK and SecurID based connections only):
The key to be used for authentication. The key must be entered in string format.
