A separate, dedicated app is required to use the barcode reader.
Entering a scanned barcode into text field
If the Keyboard wedge function is enabled, you can scan a barcode and it will be entered into the currently selected text field of the app that is in the foreground. To enable the Keyboard wedge function, follow the instructions below.
1.
Flick the Start screen to the left, and then in the All apps list, tap [Barcode Reader] → [Keyboard wedge].
2.
Tap the [Keyboard wedge] switch to turn it on.
