Hold the NFC card in the orientation as shown in the figure.

NFC is enabled while the screen is on. You can change this setting by flicking the Start screen to the left, and then in the All apps list, tapping [Settings] → [Devices] → [NFC] and then selecting the desired setting.

If the unit is having difficulty reading, slightly shift the position.
