Touch operation settings
You can adjust the unit’s touch operation settings to suit your working conditions.
Enabling glove touch mode
Glove touch mode makes the screen more sensitive to touch operations. Use it when operating the unit while wearing gloves.
1.
Flick the Start screen to the left, and then in the App list, tap [Settings][display+touch].
2.
Turn on the [Glove touch] switch.
3.
Tap [Glove thickness] and then select the desired setting.
This setting determines the sensitivity of the screen when glove touch mode is enabled. Select a setting according to the thickness of the gloves being used.
Note
After you have configured this feature, you can use the [User Button Manager] app to assign this feature to one of the unit’s buttons (see Customizing the buttons).
Turn glove touch mode off when you are not wearing gloves.
Even if glove touch mode is enabled, the unit may not be able to be operated while wearing certain types of gloves.
Enabling rain sensing touch mode
Rain sensing touch mode optimizes the screen for situations where the screen may be wet. While rain sensing touch mode is enabled, the screen recognizes touches by the amount of pressure you apply to the screen with your finger.
1.
Flick the Start screen to the left, and then in the App list, tap [Settings][display+touch].
2.
Turn on the [Rain sensing touch] switch.
3.
Tap [Rain condition] and then select the desired setting.
Select a setting according to the amount of rain falling on the screen, i.e., how wet the screen is.
4.
Tap [Pressure sensitivity] and then select the desired setting.
This setting determines the amount of pressure that needs to be applied to the screen in order to make the screen respond to touches.
If the screen is very wet, select a lower setting. In this case, you will need to apply more pressure to the screen in order to make it respond.
If the screen is less wet, select a higher setting. In this case, you will need to apply less pressure to the screen in order to make it respond.
Note
When rain sensing touch mode is enabled, the screen turns to one-finger touch mode (pressure from only one finger is recognized at any one time).
After you have configured this feature, you can use the [User Button Manager] app to assign this feature to one of the unit’s buttons (see Customizing the buttons).
Even if rain sensing touch mode is enabled, the unit may not be able to be operated or may not respond properly to touches when the entire screen is wet or depending on the amount of water on the screen. In this case, wipe the water off of the screen.
When [Rain condition] is set to [Heavy], "tap and hold" operations are limited to 2 seconds, and the screen may not respond to touches with thin fingers.
