Tips for battery usage
Tips for maximizing battery life
The battery is a consumable and, as such, its performance will gradually deteriorate. This deterioration is accelerated under the following conditions.
When the battery is charged repeatedly
When the battery is used or charged in a high-temperature environment
To minimize battery performance deterioration and to ensure longer battery life, keep the following tips in mind.
Charge the battery in an environment between 10 °C and 35 °C
The temperature inside the battery increases when the battery is in high-temperature environments. Do not charge the battery inside a vehicle with its windows closed, in areas exposed to the sun, or in other locations with high temperatures.
If the battery becomes too hot, the unit’s indicator flashes in green and orange and the battery cannot be charged.
Avoid charging the battery more than once per day
Charging the battery too often may cause the battery to deteriorate faster. Therefore, we recommend charging the battery no more than once per day or when the remaining charge has fallen to 10 % or less.
Note that the unit is designed so that it will not charge the battery immediately after it has been fully charged, unless the remaining charge has fallen below 95 %.
Tips for maximizing battery operation time
To get the most out of each battery charge, keep the following tips in mind.
Decrease the screen brightness
This reduces the amount of power consumed by the screen.
Turn the screen off if the unit will not be used temporarily
Press (power button) to turn the screen off and reduce power consumption.
Note which apps use the most battery power
Some apps place a large load on the CPU, even when these apps are not in use. You can confirm the amount of power consumed by each running app. Flick the Start screen to the left, in the App list, tap [Settings][battery saver], and then flick to the left to confirm recent battery usage.
Reduce the screen time-out time
Flick the Start screen to the left, and then in the App list, tap [Settings][lock screen][Screen times out after], and select an amount of time that passes before the screen turns off.
Notes about battery charging time
Charging and discharging time varies depending on the unit’s temperature
It takes longer to fully charge the battery in low-temperature environments. The battery also discharges more quickly in low-temperature environments.
Charging and discharging time varies depending on the state of the unit
To charge the battery more quickly, turn the screen off.
