Touch operation settings
You can adjust the unit’s touch operation settings to suit your working conditions.
Enabling glove touch mode
Glove touch mode makes the screen more sensitive to touch operations. Use it when operating the unit while wearing gloves.
1.
Flick the Start screen to the left, and then in the All apps list, tap [Settings][Extras] → [Key & touch].
2.
Tap the [Glove touch] switch to turn it on.
3.
Tap the drop-down list under [Glove thickness] and then select the desired setting.
This setting determines the screen sensitivity according to the glove thickness.
4.
Tap the drop-down list under [Coordinates offset] and then select the desired setting.
This setting determines the amount of coordinate offset when operating with gloves. When set to [Auto], the offset is automatically set according to the [Glove thickness] setting.
Note
You can use the [User Button Manager] app to assign this feature to one of the unit’s buttons (see [User Button Manager] app).
Turn glove touch mode off when you are not wearing gloves.
Even if glove touch mode is enabled, the unit may not be able to be operated while wearing certain types of gloves.
Enabling rain sensing touch mode
Rain sensing touch mode prevents accidental operation when the screen is wet. The screen recognizes touches by the amount of pressure you apply to the screen with your finger.
1.
Flick the Start screen to the left, and then in the All apps list, tap [Settings][Extras] → [Key & touch].
2.
Tap the [Rain sensing touch] switch to turn it on.
3.
Tap the drop-down list under [Rain condition] and then select the desired setting.
Select a setting according to the amount of rain falling on the screen, i.e., how wet the screen is.
4.
Tap the drop-down list under [Pressure sensitivity] and then select the desired setting.
This setting determines the amount of pressure required for the screen to respond to touch operations.
If the screen is very wet, select a lower setting. In this case, you will need to apply more pressure to the screen in order to make it respond.
If the screen is less wet, select a higher setting. In this case, you will need to apply less pressure to the screen in order to make it respond.
Note
When rain sensing touch mode is enabled, the screen operates in single-finger touch mode (i.e., only one finger press is recognized at a time) and responds by being firmly pressed with a finger.
You can use the [User Button Manager] app to assign this feature to one of the unit’s buttons (see [User Button Manager] app).
Even if rain sensing touch mode is enabled, the unit may not be able to be operated or may not respond properly to touches when the entire screen is wet or depending on the amount of water on the screen. Temporarily put the unit to sleep mode and wipe the water off of the screen.
When [Rain condition] is set to [Heavy], "tap and hold" operations are limited to 2 seconds.
